How does the Image Color Picker work?
Upload any image (drag & drop). Hover over any pixel to inspect it, or click to 'lock' the color and copy its HEX, RGB, or HSL code instantly.
Can I generate a color palette from my logo?
Yes. The tool automatically analyzes the uploaded image to extract a 'Dominant Palette'—the 5-6 most prominent colors used, perfect for brand consistency.
Is the picked color accurate?
Yes, it samples the exact pixel data from the raw image file. Note that compressed images (JPG artifacts) can sometimes have slightly mixed pixel colors.
Does this support transparent images (PNG)?
Yes. If you click a transparent area, it handles the alpha channel correctly, though typically you want to pick the visible foreground colors.
Why do colors look different on my phone vs laptop?
Every screen has different color calibration (sRGB vs P3 gamut). Use the HEX codes as the source of truth, but always test designs on multiple devices.
Can I save my generated gradients?
Your creations are available in the current session. For long-term storage, we recommend copying the CSS/HEX values to your design system notes.
What is the difference between HEX, RGB, and HSL?
HEX is standard for web (#FF0000). RGB is good for digital screens (255, 0, 0). HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) is most intuitive for designers adjusting shades and tints.
Can I use the Eyedropper on websites outside this image?
Browsers restrict access to outside windows. To pick colors from other websites, you usually need a browser extension. Our tool specifically picks from images you upload.
Why is Contrast Checking important?
Low contrast text is hard to read for visually impaired users. Our Contrast Checker verifies if your color pair passes WCAG AA or AAA accessibility standards.
Can I export the palette to Figma?
You can copy the HEX codes. We are exploring direct plugin integrations, but currently, clipboard copy-paste is the fastest way.
